
A recipe adapted from the American South. Shrimp covered in spices and sizzled in lard instead of butter to make it lactose-free. Carl absolutely loves this recipe!

Blackened Shrimp

Ingredients
- 400 g shrimp
- ½ tbsp lard
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp dried chives
- ¼ tsp dried basil
- ¼ tsp dried thyme
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (use more/less or omit, as desired)

Method
- Step 1
- Mix the blackening spices, smoked paprika, garlic, salt, chives, basil, thyme, black pepper and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
- Mix the shrimp into the blackening spices, and cover each shrimp completely.
- Step 2
- Melt the lard on medium to high heat. (Number 8.)
- Step 3
- When the lard is hot, fry the shrimp for about 2 mins on each side until cooked.
- They should turn pinkish when done.
- Step 4
- Serve.
