Fried Cabbage And Bacon

Ingredients

  • 300 g cabbage
  • 100 g fennel
  • 3 x slices bacon
  • 1 x clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp lard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

Instructions

Preparation

  • Crush the garlic.
  • Finely chop the fennel.
  • Roughly slice the cabbage.

Method

  • Step 1
    • Melt the lard in a large frying pan on medium-high heat. (Number 7.)
  • Step 2
    • Fry the bacon till crispy, remove and set aside.
  • Step 3
    • Add the fennel to the pan and fry till soft, about 15 mins.
  • Step 4
    • Add the cabbage, garlic, salt, black pepper, garlic powder and sweet paprika to the pan.
  • Step 5
    • Turn the heat down to medium-low. (Number 3.)
    • Chop the bacon up small and return it to the frying pan.
    • Simmer on low heat to medium heat for 30 mins. Stir often and add more lard if the cabbage starts to stick.
  • Step 6
    • Serve.
