Ingredients

  • 2 x 85 g (2 thin-cut) bone-in pork chops
  • 3 tbsp ghee/butter
  • 1 x apple
  • ½ tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ⅛ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel, core, and finely chop the apple.
  • Remove the pork chops from the fridge about 15 mins before cooking.

Method

  • Step 1
    • Rub the salt and pepper onto both sides of the pork chops.
  • Step 2
    • Melt the ghee/butter in a medium-sized frying pan over medium-high heat. (Number 7.)
  • Step 3
    • Add the pork chops to the pan when the lard starts sizzling.
    • Fry the pork chops for 3 minutes on one side, flip them over and fry for 2 minutes on the other.
    • The meat is cooked when the juices run clear: a meat thermometer should read 62°C.
    • Wrap the cooked pork chops in aluminium foil and set aside.
    • Keep the pan with the juices on the hob.
  • Step 4
    • Turn the hob heat down to medium. (Number 5.)
  • Step 4
    • Mix the apple, honey, water and cinnamon in a small bowl and then add the mixture to the frying pan.
    • Cook the ingredients for about 5 mins until the apples are soft; stir often.
  • Step 5
    • To serve, unwrap the pork chops from the aluminium foil and arrange them on plates before pouring equal amounts of the apple cinnamon sauce over each.
